We meet every Friday morning 10.15am at Sunnybank Social Club,  and Monday evenings at the Robin Hood Inn 6.30pm

HELMSHORE UKULELE GROUP

was set up in 2019 by local players. there were already some flourishing clubs in the area which met in the evening but it was felt that it would be good to have a club which met in the daytime. In addition – the aim of the club was & still is, to encourage anyone who has no experience of playing a Ukulele, reading music to learn in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

The club is open to everyone, confident players and absolute beginners.

We originally met at the Textile Museum in Helmshore - during lockdown we continued online using Zoom - and we now meet at the Sunnybank Social Club on Helmshore Road on Friday mornings from 10.15 to 12 noon.

We have around 25 members and play a wide range of songs from the 1930s , through the 50s and 60s right up to current times. In October 2021 we played our first live performance and this was a major step forward for the players that had never performed in front of a live audience. We also now have an excellent website full of songs, helpful videos and Ukulele resources.

You don't have to be able to read music to play the ukulele and there is always help available for beginners.

If you would like to come along and find out more, please get in touch. If you don't own a ukulele yet, it is possible to borrow one if you want to come along to a meeting and try before you buy!
